‘Afropolitan Dreams‘ is so far definitely the best album that comes from Africa in 2014. The New York-based Ghanaian Blitz the Ambassador uses his uniquely universal interpretations of Hip Hop and invites a panafrican lineup for exciting collaborations on his new album.
I would like to share with you two of these collabos: ‘Africa is the Future‘, a beautiful and vibrant ode to the African continent in which Blitz The Ambassador, Mali born Oxmo Puccino, Kenyan band Just A Band and Morocco native Oum explore Afropolitan ideas.
The second song features the wonderful Angélique Kidjo: ‘Call Waiting‘ is a bittersweet song that Blitz uses to narrate family issues that a global artist like him faces, being on tour for many months. He finishes with the line “now I’m getting older, I think I’m relocating back to Ghana for good“. Was it just a rhyme or an announcement?
