The father of a nation and one of the most inspirational persons of our time has passed away. As much as we all somehow anticipated this moment, this devastating news hurt us all. Madiba’s lessons on peace, forgiveness and reconciliation inspired millions of people and his legacy will still shape our and our children’s’ hearts and minds.
“We say goodbye to our giant. But we must refuse to say goodbye to his example, his ideals, and the dream we share with him. We will always need Madiba.” – Mail & Guardian
Before I share with you a special Mandela tribute by DJ Kent and eight Madiba inspired tracks of various artists, I would like to quote some of Mandela’s many inspirational statements:
“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
“If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.”
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
