South Africa has in the last years proven to be a force in the Afro Jazz/Soul music scene. Artists like Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela and Simphiwe Dana have fascinated masses on an international scale and recently even more South African Afro Jazz/ Soul acts have come up and start to get recognition beyond the borders of the Rainbow nation: The Soil, The Muffinz and The Fridge, just to name three outstanding groups here. Here comes yet another artist that is getting more and more attention in this genre: Sabelo Mthembu.
Sabelo started singing in the church choir when he was just five years old. Later he developed a fascination for jazz and world music and started his professional music career in 2007. He will soon release his first studio album titled ‘Songs of Brotherhood‘. Listen below to his wonderful Afro Soul tune ‘Ofana Nawe‘, a compilation of small clips of his LP as well as a recording of a live concert he held in Joburg.
You can download five of his songs for free on his reverbnation page! Get them as long as they are for free.
