Mokoomba seems to be the band of the hour. Their LP ‘Rising Tide‘ has quickly reached the world music charts and currently inhabits #9. This 6-men group from Zimbabwe plays an interesting Tonga sound, fused with latin, soukous and palm wine influences. After having toured through Europe during the last weeks they will be on stage in South Africa next month.
The first track, ‘Messe Messe‘ is a very danceable collabo with dutch DJ Gregor Salto, followed by the latin track ‘Mwile‘ and in ‘Misozi‘ you can hear strong Congolese influences. An impressively diverse sound!
