Recently, there are a lot of new Afro-Soul artists coming from Kenya. But there is definitely one band which is at the fore-front of this new wave: The quartet Sauti Sol. They are yet to become famous beyond Kenyan borders but they are doing a great job. After their much celebrated LP Mwanzo they dropped Sol Filosofia in 2011, which they are still promoting. Some weeks ago they released the self-titled EP “Sauti Sol” which was mainly produced by South African afro-futurist Spoek Mathambo. The EP shows that they are constantly developing their sound and inventing new staff. Watch their space for their next album.
Here first “I Don’t Wanna Be Alone (Shukuru)“, a nice collaboration with Tanzanian Bongo Flava/ Hip Hop singer A.Y., and then “Coming home“, which was nicely visualized … a very dramatic video actually.
