In recent years, we got used to listen to great Afro Soul from Kenya (Jarel, Naomi Wachira, Mayonde, Sauti Sol, … just to name a few outstanding artists/ bands). In such an excellent Soul scene, it is increasingly difficult to show outstanding performances and yet, shooting star Victoria Gichora just succeeded to deliver a brilliant surprise hit. ‘Penzi Sumu‘, produced by Wawesh Mjanja, (founder of Penya Africa) is a deep and slow Soul track that shines through Gichora’s unique soulful voice and its warm ambience.
