In the tradition of South Africa’s always newly evolving music culture, music producer Maramza (‘Inkwenkezi‘) released ‘Hungry Ingcuka‘ (ingcuka meaning wolf in iXhosa) through the label Bombaada, which describes the EP as “a plundered brew of turntup ghetto steez, wavey euphoric synths, elastic vocal samples and living-large kwaito energy“. My absolute favourite track on it is the piece ‘Sekwa Sithi‘ on which Maramza and Cape Town based duo The Ruffest (‘Sebenza‘) give us a lesson in Future Kwaito.
