Fredy Massamba, born and raised in the Congo-Brazzaville, seems to know how to network. On his sophomore album ‘Makasi‘, he was able to get features with two very popular African artists: Kenyan Muthoni The Drummer Queen and South African Tumi Molekane. Massamba gained international popularity with his debut LP ‘Ethnophony‘ and seems to continue this path very successfully. While ‘Nkembo‘ (‘Ambience’ in Kingongo) shines with Congo-influenced Afro-Soul, ‘Unity‘ is rather an example of his experimental and innovative sound.
