Songs for Desert Refugees

Mali is currently experiencing the worst conflict of his history as Northern Mali is occupied by extremist rebels, who are now even destroying the cultural heritage of Northern Mali. The region is traditionally the home of Touareg nomads, who have lived there for centuries. The violent conflict between different rebel groups has resulted in a flow of refugees from Northern Mali into neighbouring countries.

The Touareg have a rich music tradition. Their music is often called Desert Blues and the annual festival “Festival au Désert” is attracting thousands of visitors. Popular Touareg artists, such as Tinariwen, Tamikrest, Toumast, etc., have now joined hands together to produce this LP called “Songs For Desert Refugees“. The profit is used to support those ones who had to flee from the violence. Stream it on bandcamp or buy it to support the refugees.
